Perfection is a fools game

I design all of my guitars, one at a time, with a pencil and eraser, no CAD or computers involved. I build by hand with my 1950s Craftsman bandsaw and a router table that I made myself. Instead of perfection, I focus on playability in the form of feel and tone.

I mostly build to order but occasionally I’ll build one and put it up for sale.

Making pickguards today. No.36 DeVille gets two, a white marine pearl 4-ply guard (shown) and an aged white 3-ply giard too. Oh, and a matching control cover of each for the back. Im going with Jazzmaster pickups on this one, thank you @alphabetar

Fretwork done in No’s 36 & 37. Just need to enlarge the tuner holes and do some final scraping and sanding and these will be ready for finishing. Plenty of work still to do one the bodies. And I still haven’t decided on colors. #r
44 frets installed. That’s 22 each. Tomorrow I’ll trim them, and then all the fret work that has to be done. I really like the rosewood I got for these slab boards with nice, long grain. It’s real nice. 12” radius like a G
